LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Blues peeps,

Just to let you all know what is happening with the Maine Blues Society this next month.
First of all we are having our ANNUAL Rd to Memphis Sunday May 19th from noon till 5:00ish at he American Legion Post #31 located at 426 Washington Ave N Auburn, ME 04210 starting at NOON SHARP. Now the American Legion will have a bartender and the kitchen will be open for meals and munchies.

To ASSURE everyone, we have NINE bands entered and the competition will go on! So come out and support LIVE Blues and cheer your favorite band on:

Pat Pepin Project,
Downeast Soul Coalition,
Between Dead Stations,
Pokechop and TOWM,
Wicked Blues Band,
Jacks and Aces,
Missing Pieces,
Zealous Bellus, and
Juke Rockets Blues Band

The Maine Blues Society will have T-shirts for sale and we will be taking donations at the door to help send the winner to Memphis to compete in the INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE

Also we are awarding Maine Blues Society T-shirts to ‘LIKES’ and ‘SHARERS’ of the Maine Blues Society Facebook page. Winners are picked at random monthly.

The Maine Blues Society has also bought a brick in the proposed ‘Blues Hall of Fame’ to be established in Memphis.

2013 Road To Memphis Announced for May 19th in Auburn!

The Maine Blues Society is proud to be announcing that we will be
hosting our annual Rd to Memphis competition again this year on Sunday
May 19th 2013!

The competition will be held at the American Legion Post #31 located at 426 Washington Ave N Auburn, ME 04210 starting at NOON SHARP. All Maine blues artists are eligible to enter provided at least one member of the act
is a member of The Maine Blues Society by May 3rd 2013. To enter all
one has to do is submit an entry form by Friday May 3rd 2013.

Road To Memphis Entry Submission

Again we will be following The Blues Foundation’s rules and format, thus we
will have two categories: band and solo duo act. Seeing as we will be
following the Blues Foundation’s rules and format, we strongly recommend and
encourage all entrants, and potential entrants to visit:

It’s the poke chop/lamb chop duo!

More blues, more blues!

That’s the chant, and we hear it every night. You can join the chorus this time on Thursday night, Feb. 28th at the Mt. Abram ski area as we bring the blues duo of Poke Chop and Lamb Chop to the intimate gathering space at the base of the mountain.

Come join us after a day of skiing and sliding up at Mt. Abram just outside of Greenwood ME. Downbeat is 4pm. We’d love to see you.

Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, Twins, Champs, Marshalls, Voxs we see them all at the Maine Blues Society open blues jam every week at The Cage, 97 Ash St. in Lewiston. Muddy, Buddy, Otis, Cletus, Freddy, Albert and B.B, they all wish they were part of the festivities. Come join a community of players, fans and admirers of the blues starting at 8pm every Thursday night and hosted by The Treblemakers. If you miss it you only have yourself to blame. You owe it to yourself to come out. See you then.
